Why do so many companies try to implement lean but fail?
The journey toward sustainable, continuous improvement starts with the Gemba Walk. You cannot devise useful Kaizen/continuous improvement programs sitting at your desk, but just going out and watching does not solve your problems, either – it only makes you an “industrial tourist.”
On May 26, 2016, learn Gemba Walk with Sammy Obara, Toyota Production System (TPS) expert. Sammy brings the experience of working with 300+ companies in lean implementation.
This lean technique can be the most forgotten step in moving any organization toward transformation
– from current state to ideal state. Without it you miss opportunities to identify real problems, coach team members, capitalize on good examples and overcome resisistance to change. Gemba Walk is where it all begins.
About Samuel Obara
Samuel learned the Toyota Production System (TPS) while working at Toyota Motors in Japan. For three years he underwent intense practical training at the Honsha Overseas Engineering Division in Toyota City, and for thirteen consecutive years implemented lean in Toyota facilities in Japan, Brazil, the United States and Venezuela.
Sammy has gained experience in other industries, including healthcare, construction, retail, and government, helping numerous large and small organizations in their lean journey.
He holds a Masters Degree in Technology Management and has lectured in universities such as Stanford and Harvard. He currently aids companies implementing lean through Honsha Associates.
He has also co-authored a book entitled Toyota by Toyota: Reflections from the Inside Leaders on the Techniques that Revolutionized the Industry, and has numerous lean presentations on YouTube, including:
